Q is for Quitting

It would be wrong in an Addicted to Beads theme to ignore the topic of Quitting.

I've skirted around the issue in several posts already; we've talked Harm Reduction, Cold Turkey and all about my Dealers and the Addiction itself at the start of the A to Z Challenge.

I wasn't always addicted to beads, it came to me quite late in life given I have always had a love of jewellery.  I was introduced to beads by my friend Emz, and the story of how she got started is here. <--- It's one post by the way and a beautiful story told by Emz in her own words if you fancy a read.

How my addiction developed on the other hand, well, that's actually the whole story of my blog!

Whilst I might be trying to slow down and spend less on beads each year, I don't think I could quit completely, I mean look at some of the bracelets I've made... who would want to give that up?!

What do you contemplate quitting, but secretly hope it will never happen?!
What would you actually like to quit?

  1. Oh pheww - I was slightly worried when I saw your blog post title - but now it all makes sense & of course you couldn't give up your life of beads - it is all too beautiful :) I think however I will have to be quitting eating chocolate (which I adore) because I keep getting too bad a headache when I have some, I know my husband would like me to quit going to charity shops but you just never know what incredible bargain you'll find!! So I don't think that's ever gonna happen!!

    1. It's horrible having to give up something you enjoy so much - a friend of mine had to do that with diary because of health reasons but cheese was probably one of her all time favourite foods.

I like charity shopping, I'm trying to avoid them a bit at the moment as trying to put more into shops than we take out at the moment! I would actually love to quit clutter and be able to let things go more easily. I'm trying one draw/box at a time!!

  2. I don't want to quit TBs either - but I do want to slow down a bit (esp after hubby counted my beads the other day!). I think I sort of am slowing down??? Also could do with a MAJOR declutter - I'm with you there!

    1. I am definitely slowing down at the moment, and luckily raw material supplies/tools/bench time for making beads is working out cheaper than actually buying beads so I'm still ahead on my New Year's Bead Resolutions... but greatly helped by the funds having to be diverted into the other B fund for our Bus!!

Yes the more I talk about the declutter the more I think I need to do some more, although in the time between publishing this this morning there has been a donation of cutlery to somewhere worthwhile!!

      One box at a time!!

  3. Golly - just had a weird thing to verify I am not a robot in my last comment. Had to tick all the images of coffee out of a selection!!!!

    1. Ooh how odd... I've had my CAPTCHA turned off for the duration of the A to Z Challenge to make life easier for everyone!

Hopefully it was a one off as Blogger can be a bit flakey with this stuff!

  6. I don't want to quit anything, but there are a few things I am glad I never started like smoking, because I know I'm not very good at the whole self-control quitting thing! ;P

    1. Smoking in my one quitting triumph, I think it's been about 18/19 years now (lost count after about first 12 years), had tried a few times previously but this time it was for good - best thing I ever quit!

    1. Yep, all different shade and kinds, I love amber... I haven't found a way to work it into the A to Z as the letters it could have gone under I wanted to do something else instead! It almost went into Y as a last minute addition as the beads are yellow but I wanted to cover something else for Y so it got bumped out.

But if you like Amber just do a search for amber in the search bar and that should bring up plenty!

  8. I've never thought about quitting my beads, but there are times when I wish I hadn't started :D Sometimes it seems my wishlist never shrinks as fast as it grows, so that can be discouraging.

I agree, you would be crazy to give up the beautiful beads you have!

    1. I do think regularly about quitting buying new beads (especially when just released) as the cost is getting more prohibitive... and waiting until the "newness" wow factor is long gone to see if I still want them - well at least with production, can't necessarily do that with LE stones or you'd just miss the boat completely.

For what I do have, I enjoy!

  9. I can't think of anything I want to quit, especially my hobbies, but less calories a day would be good LOL! x

    1. Lol, I did that one a couple of years back, when I'd managed that I bought a bead to celebrate! (as you do as a bead addict - any excuse!)

I love saying hi to people who've read my blog, or are just passing through via the A to Z, or anyone not a spam bot!

P.s. If you use an iPad/iPhone and are having trouble leaving a comment on Blogger, you might have better luck using a browser that's not the default iPad one... Then from the "Comment as" drop down menu choose Name/Url (you can leave URL field blank or add your web address) or Anonymous and (hopefully) away you go! Mars xx
