P is for Pac Man, Pandora & Prisms

Pac Man was an arcade game in the early 80's that was hugely popular and was one of the first games to be designed with the idea of attracting a wider audience to game playing.

When Trollbeads first bought out Mr and Ms Ghost Fighter in Autumn 2013 I knew I had to have Pandora's Ghost Charm to represent the enemies.  Whilst this charm was recently retired I was able to find one - thanks to being tipped off by Victoria over at Endangered Trolls that retired Pandora Charms don't hang around in the same way that Trollbeads do as shops often return them back to Pandora once they're retired.

I only have one Pandora Ghost Charm but after making up this bracelet I'm hankering after some more!

Want to know a secret?  Look what happens after dark!

Well I had to try and recreate some of that arcade magic!

The glow in the dark beads are Trollbeads Inner Glow, originally released as part of the Halloween Collection in 2012, I used prisms as a (very) loose representation of the in game dots and power pellets and finished off with a chess lock to represent the pixels in early games!

Any gamers reading today?  Did you like Pac Man or did it pass you by?  For readers under a certain age, a'hem, what do you think of this retro game?

  1. What a great bracelet idea! I have the Mr Ghost Fighter and the Pandora Ghost, but I use them in separate combinations.

I played a bit of Pac Man on our Intellivision system, but I remember playing the sports games more (and Pitfall!). I was quite sad when my mother sold that system, even though most of the games didn't work any more and the ones that did, you had to jiggle the game cartridge to get it to work properly. :D

    1. Cheers hun, been dying to blog this one for ages; but I'd decided to keep it for the Challenge so it's great I get to finally show everyone!

I loved Space Invaders as my first arcade game, but also could play Pong (the tenis game) for ages too. Pac Man was cute ;)

I think I'd like a couple more of the Ghostie charms to expand on this, but we'll see :)

  2. Ooh! I love the glow beads. They totally make it.

On the new Nintendo system they released a 4 player version of Pack Man, but with Nintendo characters. It's a blast and the kids LOVE playing...until Dad catches and eats them.

    1. Hi Heather, thanks for stopping by! You're certainly in the right place if you like beaded jewellery!

I came to it only recently (the blog was an unexpected by product) but I love putting new combinations together, this was one I wanted to do for a while!

  5. Glow in the dark beads are cool.

Still not sure what trollbeads are. If I don't find out, and there is no definition on your site, you might want to add a definition in your "about page"

    1. I love the Trollbeads Inner Glow beads, you get a really good glow after dark!

Trollbeads are the original brand of charm bracelet where you can thread the charm onto the bracelet, and change the order, they invented how to put glass beads onto a silver chain without damaging the chain.

Most charm/modular jewellery today copies this method, the one most people have heard of is Pandora which is now a huge global brand.
