New Year's Bead and Blog Resolutions 2017

I'd already given my New Year's Bead and Blog Resolutions quite a lot of thought for 2017, so although making some of the decisions has been more difficult, as I've not known what I wanted to do for sure until recently, by contrast writing them down once I'd decided has been fairly easy.

  • To blog less, but with more intent - this has been something I've been mulling over for most of the year, but especially since April.  I've been so busy in 2016, that I've blogged less and often at times when I didn't have much to say, or rather I had too much to say so I didn't say much about any of it!  I even considered killing the blog in 2017 rather than carry on in such a haphazard fashion... however... as I also enjoy writing along with everything else I do - I've decided to blog much less, but with more intent...
    • So expect fewer and/or shorter posts overall during the year, as I'll only blog when I have something I definitely want to write about, not just because it's a new month!

  • To make a "thing" with metal clay - I've been sent 4 sample metal clays; this is a material I've been fascinated with, ever since Tracy over at Black Boots Long Legs started to make her own beads and designs!
    • I want to make something in metal clay but from a definite idea, rather than just playing, as I only have a little of each of the four.

  • To spend the same or less in 2017 than I did in 2016, but to consider more - Last year was the first time I've come close to being comfortable with the amount of money I spend on jewellery.  This is something I definitely want to repeat this year!
    • My goal for 2017 is to spend the same, or a bit less, but with more intent on what I'm buying.  So going for the things I really want, but to think more about the things I buy out of habit or because I "collect", do I really want or need those? This might be a hard habit to break!

So that's all from me for now... I'm starting as I mean to go on,with intent!

I look forward to our chats in 2017 and I hope you have a very Happy New Year in 2017.

Do you set yourself any resolutions, bead or otherwise?  Feel free to share!

  1. Yay for metal clay! I hope that you love it :) I also had trouble deciding what to start with since I didn't want to just play, but then it get so addictive! And I'm very curious to see what you think about the bronze clay as I have not worked with it. I was talking to my SIL and she didn't have the same issues that I had with the copper clay drying out after opening, so perhaps I just had a funny batch. Still, I think that I will be sticking to silver clay from this point out. I just need to get off my butt and buy some more!

I love how you have phrased your first resolution about blogging less, but with more intent. I've struggled a bit with intent myself, sometimes pushing out a post before I feel that it is really "ready." I am very glad that you have decided not to kill your blog entirely as I would miss seeing your combinations!

Good luck in your resolutions, I look forward to following along through the year :)

    1. Thanks Tracy! I've been wrestling mentally with what to do with the blog for most of the year, I've taken a week off from everything this last week, literally doing nothing and it's really helped... When I'm in the mood and I've got something to say I *love* writing, and Curling Stones is so special to me for a number of reasons. Now I've given myself permission almost to do it with intent only, and not regularly, a weight has lifted and I'm very pleased with the decision!

Yay metal clay! I've had this for a while now, in fact I do actually have to find it again as I had a reorganisation of my work space, I also have some wood stuff, which I think is for making hollow things in metal clay?! I may have a few questions before I start but will definitely report back, whether it's good, bad or just plain ugly!

The other advantage this week is I've had a bit of a chance to catch up with a few other blogs, can't remember the last time I read anything, really must do this again soon :)

      Mars xx

I love saying hi to people who've read my blog, or are just passing through via the A to Z, or anyone not a spam bot!

P.s. If you use an iPad/iPhone and are having trouble leaving a comment on Blogger, you might have better luck using a browser that's not the default iPad one... Then from the "Comment as" drop down menu choose Name/Url (you can leave URL field blank or add your web address) or Anonymous and (hopefully) away you go! Mars xx
