J is for Jewellery

One of my pleasures is seeing photos of beads I create when they are used in Jewellery, which is after all what they are made for.

As well as beads I also make glass rings, my favourite one was this one, but sadly I had an accident shortly after it was made before it could be annealed to make it strong enough to wear... it's on my list to try and recreate something similar as I made this one for me!

Here are some others that did survive to make it to the kiln...

Today's post is mostly lots of pictures of jewellery ready to wear - the bangle, silver beads and stoppers that feature in so many of the photos are made by Trollbeads, the bangle is a solid silver cuff and when customers send me photos of beads more often than not they are on a Trollbeads bangle!
Personally, my bangle is my most used accessory as it's really quick to change the beads around for a different look, if you are interested in reading more about this, I did a whole post about it here.

Do you have a "go to" piece of jewellery that gets used time and time again?

  1. I don't have a specific go-to jewelry but whenever I want to accessorize, rings are my favourite. I'll just load my fingers up with rings LOL

    1. Before I discovered beads... rings and pendants were my main go to bits of jewellery, still are!

  2. Those are lovely - it's a shame that ring didn't make it to the kiln. The only jewellery I wear all the time are my engagement and wedding rings. I react to a lot of metals in jewellery so unless it's pure it's very hit and miss. Glass would probably be okay though :)

    1. Glass I think is pretty good on that score. I was absolutely gutted to lose this ring to a silly accident. I fell in love with it when I was making it and it was sooooo comfy to wear.

If I only wear a few pieces of jewellery rings win hands down every time! But the bangle does come a close second B-)

  3. That Trollbead bangle really helps show off each of your marvelous beads so well and looks so different I didn't realise it was the same one until you pointed it out! I didn't know you had made so many different beads and your rings look fabulous and so unusual :)

    1. Lol I've made quite a few now, I love a single bead on a bangle with silver cap beads either side (Trollbeads lotus top). I like experimenting so I tend not to repeat beads too much at the moment so you never know what's coming next!

Glass rings are an acquired taste I think, I need to spend a bit more time exploring these when I get a chance.

  4. My Trollbeads bangle is probably my go-to jewellery piece. There are days that I forget to put on my wedding rings, but I'll still have my Trollbeads on!

Beautiful rings! It is too bad that the one didn't make it, but hopefully you can create something similar that you will also love. Do you have a special mandrel that has different ring sizes on it so that you know how big the ring will be?

    1. Lol on the bangle, it's definitely a keeper isn't it?!

I have 2 ring mandrels that do 3 different sizes each, they're a bit like a wedding cake in looks, as they step up in size - so once I'd made some test rings I can size them as long as I need one of those sizes! I really need to label my ring mandrels as I cannot remember which sizes I have!!

You can also get shapers if you want need bands, but comfort and looks wise I prefer the more natural wavy shape that just develops, they are surprisingly more comfortable than metal rings I find.
